On Tuesday NASCAR suspends Josh Williams was given a one-race suspension as punishment for parking his car at the start-finish line during Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity race at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Williams accepted his punishment but said he does not regret the actions that led to it. As such, he will miss this Saturday’s Xfinity race at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.

NASCAR suspends Josh Williams announced Williams had been suspended for disobeying a NASCAR request during the race at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

NASCAR ordered Williams to park his car in a garage after debris came off during the race, necessitating a caution.

Instead, Williams parked it near the checkered start-finish line, got out, and walked toward his pit crew with a wave to the fans as he did so.

Williams voiced disbelief over his radio before exiting the car, noting NASCAR regulations for parking vehicles following accidents of any kind. To which Williams added: “This is some ridiculous stuff – this has never happened in my life!”

On Tuesday, Williams shared a message on his Twitter account to express his gratitude to fans and sponsors for their support.

“I fully support NASCAR’s decisions,” Williams declared, emphasizing his resolve to never regret anything I have done.

Williams also posted an image of “park it” T-shirts that can be purchased, with proceeds going to hospitals he supports.

Since 2015, Williams has been conducting his Josh Williams Hospital Tour across North America, visiting more than 140 children’s and other hospitals throughout the process.
