Hurricane Dorian

Meaning

Hurricane Dorian was an extremely powerful and devastating Category 5 Atlantic hurricane. It is becoming the most intense tropical cyclone on record to hit forcibly the Bahamas. This is also regarded as the worst natural disaster in the country’s recorded history.

It was also one of the most powerful hurricanes that are now recorded in the Atlantic Ocean. In the terms of 1-minute without interruption winds, those winds reach the highest point at 185 mph (295 km/h). In addition, Dorian exceed Hurricane Irma of the year 2017 to become the most powerful Atlantic hurricane on record outside of the Caribbean Sea.

About 90% of the enterprises in Marsh Harbour were damaged. The shantytowns of Marsh Harbour, housing mostly poor Haitian immigrants are completely destroyed. In central and northern Abaco, Dorian has severely damaged the roadways. As well as thousands of houses were destroyed.

With 60% of homes in northern Abaco damaged or destroyed. The power put into serving the entirety of the Abacos was destroyed. The terminal building of Treasure Cay Airport was suffered significant damage.

Grand Bahama

There was an Extending throughout an island power period when a power supply on Grand Bahama Island. An oil refinery was also damaged. About 300 homes on the island were destroyed or are severely damaged. With the heaviest damage on the eastern side of the island.

Strong winds at the airport are severely damaged buildings and aircraft. Leaving debris untidily scattered across the airport and surrounding roads. Floodwaters and sewage-contaminated Rand Memorial Hospital, The operating room, intensive care unit and the wards were melted in order to separate out the impurities.

Unusable after being contaminated by sewage. While mold outbreaks after the floodwaters go forced more parts of the hospital to be evacuated. The two main supermarkets in Freeport, as well as their warehouses, were overwhelmed by storm surges.
