The West End actress, speaking to the EastEnders star, said: “He’s a great guy. And I was really smitten by him.”

After landing the main part in A Star Is Born, Ruthie revealed that Prince Edward was “a production assistant at Andrew Lloyd Webber’s [theatre]” and became her point of contact.

She said, ” “He [Edward] was the one who’d phone me up and say something like, “You’re rehearsing at 2 o’clock.”

“And he said to me, ‘Would you like to come to my house and watch A Star Is Born with me and have some dinner?’

Ruthie spent the weekend in Windsor with the Prince, where she met his mother, The Queen, as well as Princess Margaret, Prince Charles, The Queen Mother, and Princess Diana.

However, the royal meeting was not without incident, as she disobeyed her father’s advise and instead shook his hand instead of curtsying.

It got much more tough when he said: “‘Yeah, yes, oh sing us a song from that musical you’re in,’ Margaret says.

“I sang I Dreamed A Dream because I was in Les Mis at the time. Because I was so p****d on martinis, I must have changed keys three times.”

Ruthie also dropped a bombshell on Saturday when she revealed to her friend and fellow camp member Shane Richie that she had sex with Prince Edward in Buckingham Palace.

“You sang in the gardens, I s****ed in the beds,” Ruthie informed the EastEnders regular.

She went on to say that she even grabbed a coat hanger from Windsor Castle as a souvenir before revealing that they have “regular toilet paper” instead of the “royal seal” she expected.

Shane retorted, “Blimey, my first date was at Little Chef!” after Ruthie quipped about her first date being at Buckingham Palace.

“He took me to Windsor for the weekend,” she added, “and while we’re going around, I see a table outside with people sitting around it and I say to myself, ‘That looks like the Queen.'”

“I remembered my father telling me that if I ever met the Queen, I should curtsy and address her as ma’am, but I grabbed her hand, forgot about the curtsy, and said, ‘I’m really, very glad to meet you!”

“At that point, nothing was more essential than what I was doing.”

While Prince Edward married Sophie, who is now Countess of Wessex, Ruthie married Tim Howar, who she divorced in 2009.
