1. Robber’s Cave, Gucchu Paani

Robbers cave is about 14kms from Dehradun. It has caves and cold water running through the surface. It’s a public place. During summer it is usually crowded. You can go there, sit and enjoy. There is nothing much to do. It is a cave in which a river is flowing. When you go inside you can also see a fall. Kids like such places. It not very preferred to go on a rainy day because water flow can increase. There is some rock climbing inside the cave and go forward as you can, more you go inside, you will find more attraction. This cave is around 1 KM long. Then you’ll reach at the starting point of it.

2. Sahastradhara

It a beautiful palace and you will definitely enjoy this place. You can also bath there, enjoying of rope way to go hill and spent time with peace. In sahastradhara, the water mixed with minerals. Many Skin Diseases end to bath in this water. It a very famous palace with scenery. It’s around 10 km far from heart of the city clock tower. If u planning to go there i suggest you that rainy season is very right time to be there because river, water and lakes are the main point of attraction.

3. Mindrolling Monastery

Mindrolling monastery is a sprawling shrine dedicated to Lord Buddha by Tibetan monks. Even when you are very close to the place, you don’t get any inkling that you are going to enter a superlative temple. It is incredulous that the ascetic monks have constructed such colorful edifices. Nestled amidst greenery, the place is serene and wonderful.  The Monastery at Clement Town is the result of work begun in 1965 to reestablish the Mindrolling Monastery at this location.  There is much you cannot view being an active Monastery, however what is available for entry / viewing is more than worth the trip out to this town.

4. Forest Research Institute

FRI, as popularly known for many years is land mark of Dehradun. A well maintained forest plantation, different species of rare trees and plants, a good nursery and number of museums make this place a unique experience. A dense forest in middle of city is a unique experience for daily walkers as well as visitors. One can also get lot of information about plants and trees. There is no sign board at the gate, so if don’t know that you are approaching the FRI , you would wonder if this belonged to a maharaja! Set in huge blocks of stone and arched corridors, this building is the pride of Dehradun.

5. Tapkeshwar Temple

The Temple is a unique one where one can experience the wonders of nature. The natural cave, the abode for Lord Shiva is one of its kind as the water dripping from the natural cave creates a beautiful ambiance. It is surrounded by natural beauty all around with then hilly stream ornamenting to the cause. The name of the temple has been derived from the Hindi word Tapak, which means to drop. Water drops naturally on the Shivaling established in the cave from the ceiling and hence, it was named as Tapkeshwar Temple. The surprising fact is that nobody knows from where the water is falling through all these years continuously. May that is greatness of God! And a must visit place in Dehradun.
